Dear students!
Sorry for the long wait... Rempong banget miss jadi nggak bisa update blog sering-sering. As you see, sementara kalian prepare belajar, miss prepare bikin soal and stuffs. Anyway, pada simulasi 3 kemarin ada soal-soal baru yang keluar. Dan ternyata ada 50 soalnya! Jadi kali ini miss akan bahas di post ini.

Answer: B. Tips: Lihat pertanyaannya, terutama yang saya cetak tebal. Kalau pertanyaannya menggunakan kata will, jawaban/responnya paling mungkin menggunakan will juga. Di antara keempat pilihan jawaban hanya B yang menggunakan will. As simple as that. Tapi seandainya yang lain juga pake will, ya kalian harus artiin satu-satu.
2. Arka: Will you tell me about yourself Siska?
Siska: Well, I'm 18 years old. I'm the third child in my family. I want to be a teacher, and I don't want to be a farmer like my parents. My elder brothers already are farmers to follow my parents.
Siska doesn't want to be a farmer because...

Pertanyaan why atau because itu mudah cara mencari jawabannya (untuk level UN). Yang perlu dilihat adalah kalimat setelah atau sebelum kalimat yang mengandung pertanyaan yang diberikan. Jika dilihat yang dicetak tebal, klausa sebelumnya adalah I want to be a teacher dan setelahnya adalah My elder brothers already are farmers. Jadi yang tepat sebagai jawaban adalah option A yang maknanya sama persis dengan kalima setelahnya.
3. David: Would you like to go with me to Diana's birthday party next Sunday?
Terry: Sure, I'd love to. What time is it?
David: The party is at 7 pm. So I will pick you up at 6.30.
Terry: Ok. I shall bring Diana a present.
What does Terry intend to do about Diana's birthday party?

Kalau ada pertanyaan dengan intend atau intention, perhatikan kalimat yang menggunakan kata will, shall, atau tobe going to (I am going to buy a new shoes/She is going to visit her grandma). Nah, pada percakapan yang diberikan, ada bagian yang menyatakan bahwa Terry shall bring a present. Maka jawaban B lah jawabannya. Dia juga akan datang, dilihat dari dia menerima ajakan David. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan seperti ini, siswa diminta untuk mengisi titik-titik [...]. Nah dalam hal ini penting deh penguasaan vocabulary. Catatannya, perhatikan kalimat itu saja dulu, yang lain nggak usah dibaca, kecuali memang memerlukan pemahaman lebih luas. Saya kasi aja arti dari option yang ada ya.
seek = search = look for. Nah tau kan artinya? Seek a meeting. Mencari meeting. Masuk akal nggak?
hold = carry out = conduct. Artinya mengadakan. Hold a meeting. Mengadakan meeting. Masuk akal?
handle udah tau lah ya menangani. Masuk akal?
promote ya mempromosikan.
Nah sudah jelas dong yang maknanya paling tepat...

Ini juga pertanyaan yang mengetes kosa kata yang kalian punya. Jika dilihat makna kalimat yang dicetak tebal, "Pertemuan akan dipimpin... oleh dekan", kira-kira yang cocok itu "secara langsung", "secara jelas","secara lembut", atau "secara keras"? Udah bisa nebak dong...

To work on this, lihat keseluruhan kalimat yang dikatakan oleh Tisna. Tisna menyadari bahwa Ade kelelahan (exhausted = tired) dan perlu istirahat (break). Jadi yang mendekati maksudnya adalah option B. Karena option lainnya bertolak belakang dengan pernyataan sebelumnya.
8. Tiwi: It's so cold here.

Untuk menjawab pertanyaan pilihan, ekspresi "I'd rather", "prefer", "like better", atau "would better" memang cocok. Akan tetapi, melihat dari sisa kalimatnya, karena pilihan yang ada adalah warna hitam atau pink, berarti jawaban yang tepat adalah B.

Penting untuk mengetahui beda teks tersebut, tujuan (social function/purpose/aim), generic structure, serta fitur bahasa yang digunakan sebagai penanda (misal narrative dan recount text menggunakan Simple Past Tense).
2. Teks Fungsional: Announcement, Application Letter,
3. Expressions:
Agreement Disagreement, Asking and giving opinion, talking about plan/intention, talking about habits and leisure time (ngapain aja kegiatan sehari-hari atau kalo ada waktu luang), asking and offering help, asking and giving advice, showing care,
4. Grammar:
Pronouns (kata ganti I, me, my, mine, etc), Simple Present Tense, Simple Future Tense, Simple Past Tense, Present Perfect Tense, Continuous tense (yang isi verb-ing baik itu present maupun past), preposition, dan phrasal verbs (pasangan kata kerja, misalnya look, ada look for, ada look at, dan juga look out yang artinya berbeda-beda).
5. Vocabulary
Nah kalo yang ini mah beragam. Sering-sering aja buka Google buat liat-liat soal ya. Dan kalo ada yang nggak tau artinya inget dicatat. Siapa tau kata-kata tersebut keluar di ujian.
